AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Northern Mindanao arrested a watch-listed drug personality in Bukidnon during a buy-bust operation on Monday dawn in Valencia City.

In his report to PDEA Director General Jose S. Gutierrez Jr., PDEA Regional Director Roberto S. Opeña identified the suspected illegal drug dealer as Razil C. Abergas, 27, a resident of Purok 2, Barangay Poblacion, Valencia City.

SAN Juan Representative Joseph Victor Ejercito visited Cagayan de Oro on Friday to personally turn over P1-million cash donation to Mayor Vicente Y. Emano for the victims of Tropical Storm Sendong.

Ejercito said the amount was the proceeds of his initiative fund-raising concert that was recently held in Manila, which reached P2 million.

Ched hopes more scholarship slots for Northern Mindanao

THE Commission on Higher Education (Ched) is hoping to have an increase in the number of scholarship grants in Northern Mindanao after the wake of Tropical Storm Sendong last December.

Ched regional director Zenaida G. Gersana said they already have applicants for school year 2012-2013 and are still accepting applications.

“We will accept whoever wants to apply since we don’t have the target number yet,” Gersana said.

She said those who will qualify based on the guidelines will be sent to its central office in Manila for processing and approval.

AFTER 16 years of hiding, a wanted criminal in Cagayan de Oro was finally arrested during a police operation in Lote, Imbatug, Baungon, Bukidnon recently.

AN OFFICIAL of the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) Project Advisory Group is urging all private and government agencies to plant at least 10 trees a year in support to the government’s National Greening Program (NGP).

Chito Potacio said the NGP plays an important role in Cagayan de Oro’s river basin since if more trees will be planted, this would prevent future floods in the city.

Potacio said as a multi-sectoral project, the NGP harmonizes all the greening efforts of the private and public sectors.
